Dear Friends and Family,
Since 2015 I have been traveling to Uganda through Raise the Roof on a mission trip. Over these 7, life-changing endeavors, I have grown to love the children of Raise the Roof Academy (RTRA) and their teachers. Because of the people I have meet, I want to do what I can to spread the message of RTRA to other people here in the States. RTRA has a motto of Education Equals Choices. For most of the children who attend RTRA if they were not sponsored by people here in the states they would not be going to school. School is not free in Uganda and is often too high for the families. Many of the guardians are grandmothers taking care of multiple grandchildren as parents may have died or they go to the big city to make money. Instead of attending school children would need to work, often laboring on the family farm. However, due to the generosity of others there are around 1,900 children attending school at RTRA from ages 3-19. Because of RTRA they have the choice to change their life and the lives of their family for the better. These children want to go on to be doctors, nurses, teachers, lawyers, and pastors. I feel I am blessed because I can sponsor two bright young women. Both Victoria and Fatumah have the biggest smiles I have ever seen. They were shy the first time I meet them, but the second year I came back I received the best hugs ever. Both are in high school now and are learning a lot. They have become family and I cannot wait to see what they choose to do with their education.
This year I will be returning to Uganda for the 8th time. I ask for your prayers for this trip. For the 3rd year I will be working with the teachers of the nursery and lower elementary program. I am praying to make lasting relationships with these teachers. I hope we can provide some of their needs with educational supplies. Please pray for the entire group as we prepare for each part of the trip and that God will use us to share His love with the children of Uganda. May the Lord be with each of us as we help in Uganda.
I will be leaving June 23rd and returning on July 5th. I am trying to raise funds for this trip by June 1st. The total cost of the trip for me will be $3,500. In addition to the cost of the trip, I am hoping to bring $2,000 worth of materials to them to help teach Biology. But I need your help. Donations will help reduce the cost of the trip, be used to purchase supplies for the activities, and shipping any extra bags. Any help you can give for this would be appreciated, even if it is only a small donation. All gifts are tax deductible.
If you have any questions or are interested in joining me, please e-mail or call me. I am also available to speak to your church or small group. Thank you for your partnership in this trip to Uganda.
